Exciting things coming soon!

Hey there, Ryders! Alexa here with another update.

The first three books of the Panthera Chronicles are now available at a discounted rate as part of a box set! I always love making box sets: this one has over 243,000 words to keep you satisfied. This set contains all of Troy and Andi’s story, and will get you prepared for the series as it continues on. Politics, sexy times, and assassins, galore!

Work is progressing on Eli’s book, Conflict of Interest. I haven’t revealed the cover yet, but the header picture gives you a pretty good hint at what we’re looking at. My beta readers have really been enjoying this one, and this is by far the book that’s been the most fun for me to write in my career as an author. Counting my fantasy pen name, this will also be my tenth book written total, so it feels rather special to me as I enter the double digits.

We have a release date! On or around August 31st, depending on Amazon, you all shall have a book! And it’s a steamy one, guys. Honestly. These two are horn dogs in all the best ways. I’m barely half-way done with the book yet and there’s already been… uh… five steamy scenes so far? I can’t wait to share it with you.

While we’re here, I can share Conflict of Interest’s blurb with you. When I reveal the cover, I’ll share an excerpt or two as well.

It’s not every day you’re given a second chance, and Eli isn’t about to waste his.

Born the second child of the Panthera ruling family, his sole duty is to protect his sister and her reign. So far, he’s done a piss-poor job of it, but all of that’s about to change. Eli’s been handed a way to track his sister’s would-be assassin and he’ll follow her anywhere, even into the forbidden Human territories.

The penalty for trespassing? Death.

Brenna serves her brother and their Pride as spákona, though the Lioness considers her visions of the future a curse, not a gift. If it weren’t for a vision that linked her Pride’s survival with that of their age-old enemies, the Panthers, she wouldn’t bother with the lesser cats at all. But even her foresight can miss things, and when her brother orders her to join the team hunting Andi’s assassin, Brenna finds there’s more to lose than just her life on this trip.

The Pantheran prince hunts not only a killer, but Brenna’s heart.

After Conflict of Interest, I have a few ideas of where to go next. We could head over to the Pride’s lands and start the Leonis books, we could continue in Panthera to Sasha and Lita’s book, or maybe work both ways, with a novella starring Tobias coming out. Who doesn’t love a silver fox?

Either way, I’m hoping for another release in November, but life being what it is, who knows? I’ll be temporarily moving from part time at my day job to full time to cover a co-worker’s maternity leave, so busy times are afoot! What an exciting time to be alive.

Back in the swing of things

Howdy, folks!

So, my last post let you know what was coming up for me, schedule wise. I mentioned needing to have a surgery done, and all the things.

Well, make that two, because a complication from the first surgery nearly wiped me out. Thank -heavens- I wasn’t home alone when it happened. I couldn’t move, and I couldn’t get to my phone to call 911. Things could have ended very differently for me, I’m afraid. Without going into too many details, this second surgery nearly quadrupled my recovery time. I couldn’t even think about writing for about a month afterwards. I was too busy trying to figure out what normal life was and strengthening my core back up enough that I could walk without a cane again. Fun stuff. Let’s not do that again though, shall we?

So, with a month’s delay, Lesser Victory has finally released today! I’ll give you all a moment to cheer.

-crickets chirp-

Ahem. Moving on! Eli’s book is up next, because plot reasons. Go read Lesser Victory to find out why. It’s free for Kindle Unlimited subscribers, after all. We should see that book out here in August of this year, and then we’re bound for the Pride lands… well, the lands of Chase’s Pride, anyway.

For anyone keeping track at home, Kyla the Great Dane puppy is officially five months old and weighs in at around 75 pounds. Sheesh! She is the best cuddler, though, and has the sweetest way ever to wake me up. Velvet kisses on either my ear or foot, whatever she can reach. Seeing as she’s already taller than me on her hind legs, that’s… pretty much everything!

I’ll catch you around for the next blog update.

XOXO – Alexa

All the Things

Hey there, Ryders!

So. I promised you the next book here in March. I figured I’d go ahead and let you know what’s going on in my neck of the woods.

My adorable Great Dane puppy, Kyla.

First of all, I brought home this adorable distraction January 28th. Everyone that has met her has assured me it most certainly is a crime to attempt to get up, write, or work when this little angel has fallen asleep in my lap. It’s not my fault. Honest. Super cute. Much soft. Like velvet.

Ahem. Right.

In any event, last week was a really trying week. I had a surgery scheduled for March 12th, but changing jobs and insurance hassles and everything being what they are, I was in jeopardy of not only having to reschedule my surgery but perhaps changing doctors and not getting approved for said surgery in the first place by a different doctor. Cue massive levels of stress. I was going to work on that on Monday.

Then my sink sprung a leak and flooded my house with about an inch of water. Did I mention that last week was really rough? There’s nothing like pulling out your silverware drawer and setting it on your table and just watching the water drip out of it to throw you into full-on despair. It took me three days, but my house is nice and dry and back to normal. I think water parks are forever ruined for me now, though.

I wrangled with the insurance gods Thursday, and won. Huzzah!

Then, Friday happened. Friday, I found out my mother, whom I share a number of health issues with, was diagnosed with breast cancer. We’re waiting on results to come back, but we’ve caught it early; they’re only thinking Stage 1 or 2. And yes, Stage gets capitalized, because Cancer sucks. But my mom’s a fighter, so I’m sure we’ll get through this.

Needless to say, stress is the #1 killer of creativity, and cleaning up after a house-training puppy doesn’t make one feel very sexy, so I’m now dreadfully behind on Lesser Victory, the last book of Troy and Andi. However, I do have pretties for you to look at!

The surgery I’m having is pretty invasive, and I’m going back to work sooner than I really should, because, you know, money is helpful to feed a growing Great Dane puppy. I’m not really sure what it’s going to do for my writing schedule. I’m planning on starting back up again about five days after surgery, which is the time I should be weaned off of the pain meds if all goes well. Writing while intoxicated is not good writing, darlings.

With luck, I should finish writing Lesser Victory in March, which will line us up for April publication. The first five chapters have already been through my editor, who plans on editing in chunks as I get them to her. That’ll lessen the amount of work, and, therefore, time required after I finally type ‘The End.’

After that, I’ll give you guys a choice: do you want to see book 1 of the Leonis Chronicles, following Chase and his Pride, or would you rather see Eli’s book? I can’t quite say who his partner is yet, because you guys haven’t met her. She makes her debut in Lesser Victory, and spoilas! Let me know in the comments below, or shoot me an email or some love on Facebook.

PS: I’ve already written the first chapter of the Leonis Chronicles. The first book doesn’t have a title yet, but that’s semantics ^-~

T-1 Month and Counting!

We have 25 days to go until launch, and that means I’m getting pretty excited! Work is progressing on book three, so all of Troy and Andi’s story will be available for you in the month of February. Exciting! A Queen’s Trust will also be featured on a book blitz through Xpresso Book Tours, so keep your eyes open for that, as well. If you have a book blog and would like to sign up, click here.

Status report wise, A Queen’s Trust is fully edited and formatted and uploaded for preorder. Royal F*ckup, book 2, is fully written, with edits to be completed next week. Formatting is a breeze, then it’ll be up and ready. Lesser Victory is still very much in the production stages, but coming right along.

For those of you wanting a taste of Troy and Andi, here’s an excerpt from Chapter 23 of A Queen’s Trust:

A new year, and new journeys await

2019 Fireworks party - New Year Display!

There’s nothing quite as exciting as turning over a new leaf and beginning anew. I’m Alexa, and you’ve stumbled across my first blog post, so welcome to the madhouse!

I’m an author of paranormal romance books, and I’m working on a series that I simply can’t wait to bring to you guys: The Panthera Chronicles. The series follows a Panther shifter queen, Andi, on her quest to save her people from a rival clan of Lion shifters, and just maybe find herself a mate along the way. Beta and editor feedback have been simply amazing so far, and you guys are going to be in for a treat. I’ve been working on these books since about October of 2018, but they’ve been in my head since about the same time in 2017. It certainly makes writing easier when you already know where you’re going.

Alexa is a new pen name for me, so please don’t be scared off by this being my ‘debut’ novel; I have 6 other books published in the epic fantasy realm under a different pseudonym. I didn’t want readers of my relatively clean epic and young adult fantasy tripping into taboo territory, however, so I decided my romances would be safer segregated off to the side. I’ve also been working extra hard so that I will be able to bring you the first three books in this series all at once in the month of February so you won’t have long to wait between books.

I am still looking for Advanced Review Copy readers, so if you’re interested in a free copy of the book in exchange for an unbiased review of the book, shoot me an email at alexa@alexaryder.com and I’ll be happy to add you to the list.
